An interior designer uses her own best advice:
To refresh rooms instantly, just move things around.

Quilts, Windsor chairs, wall cupboards, yellowware, pottery. Such objects, valuable keepsakes of America’s treas- ured past, embody classic country décor while transcending the passage of time. Therefore, it seems only fitting that Mark and Brenda DePugh’s diminutive 2,640-square-foot Colonial Cape Cod, which is itself reminiscent of country’s classic roots, is located in Chillicothe, Ohio—that state’s first capitol and a town proudly celebrating its 200th birthday this very year.
Brenda DePugh has always loved tartan plaids and the color red, and has never tired of this classic design she used to upholster a pair of loveseats in the living room. The long wall storage shelf is one of folk artist David Harden’s early designs.
